I don't feel anything wrong in these conversation. As u r single he would have had an interest in you. But in no way he is odd in expression. He ws decent in his replies. And he has replied ur messages and not tried to contact in his own. So better ignore him apart from business if u don't have personal interest over him. Then its up to u on further proceedings. Cool.
